Static "PushOver" Analysis using Wave Load Generation. Example 01

In the following, the use of the Usfos Wave load option is demonstrated in connection with a conventional static "pushover" analysis. Following is performed (by Usfos).

• Usfos identifies the wave phase giving the maximum Base Shear or Over Turning moment (user's choice)
• Buoyancy forces are calculated separately and added to the dead weight load case.

Simulation Data

• Wave Height = 25m, Period  =16s, Stoke's 5'th.
• Direction : 45°.
• Surface Level = 0.0m, (referring to the Global Z-Coordinate). 
• Current surface speed = 2 m/s, with direction = 45°.
• Buoyancy included (all members buoyant, no flooded members in this example), and split Buanycy forces from other hydrodynamic forces (forces from wave and current).
• Select the phase giving maximum Base Shear.
• Drag Coefficient  : 0.65 for Z > +2m, and 1.05 for Z < +2m.
• Mass Coefficient : 1.6  for Z > +2m, and 1.2   for Z < +2m.
• Marine Growth    : 70mm at surface level and then reduced vs depth.  

The Input Parameters are verified using the "Verify/Hydrodynamics" option, and in the figure below, the drag coefficient and the marine growth are visualized using color fringes, see figure 1. Typical mechanical response is presented in figure 2.
